LCCP hosts free drop-ins
The Lesbian Community Care Project at Howard Brown Health Center begins hosting monthly drop-in sessions dedicated to women’s health Jan. 30. The sessions, which are free, are on the last Wednesday of each month.
Medical and mental health screenings and services with Howard Brown health providers are provided from 6-8 p.m. From 6-7 p.m., a speaker leads a “health salon” covering a rotating list of topics pertinent to lesbian health. The topic in January is cervical cancer and HPV.
Catherine Jefcoat, director of LCCP, said the drop-ins are possible because of the organization’s merger with Howard Brown this past fall.
“Before the merger, LCCP did not provide specific health services. Post-merger we are able to provide all of them,” Jefcoat said. “I see this as the beginning of a lot of great things to come.”
No RSVP is required and services are on a first-come, first-served basis.
