YPC founder out with illness

Youth Pride Center, 637 S. Dearborn, last week reported that Director of Communication and Development Meggan Green has been named interim executive director while the organization’s founder, Frank Walker, recovers from a heart attack.

Green said that Walker has a heart condition and suffered a “very minor heart attack” last week while taking YPC members on a trip to Monticello, Ind. She said that he had not been hospitalized, but had been ordered by his physician to take about 30 days off work.

Green expects Walker to return to work the first week of October.

“I don’t think most people will notice the change,” Green said. “Frank and I are pretty much on the same page.”

She added that YPC would operate on a limited basis in September, opening only Monday through Wednesday and for select weekend events.
