Activist Chrissy Gephardt, daughter of former House Majority Leader Richard Gephardt, and the Rev. David Poteat were among the panelists who discussed the film “For the Bible Tells Me So” Nov. 27 at Center on Halsted. Both Poteat and Gephardt were profiled along with their families in the new film, which focuses on the varied reactions of parents whose children come out as gay. Filmmaker Daniel Karslake moderated the panel, which also included the Rev. V. Gene Robinson, the openly gay bishop of the Episcopal diocese of New Hampshire, and activists Randi and Phil Reitan, who were jailed after trying to enter the Rev. James Dobson’s headquarters in Colorado Springs.
