White supremacist charged with killing gay man
OKLAHOMA CITY—A Washington man already facing a murder count has been hit with another charge of murder and kidnapping in the death of a gay Edmond, Okla., resident, whose killing may have been part of a gang initiation.
Oklahoma County prosecutors charged Darrell Lynn Madden Nov. 28 for the October slaying of Steven Domer, 62. Madden, 37, also is charged with murder in the death of his friend, Bradley Qualls.
Authorities allege Madden and Qualls were connected to the white supremacist group, United Aryan Brotherhood. According to an affidavit filed with the latest charge, the death of Domer apparently was meant to earn a place in the gang for Qualls, who died about 10 days after Domer’s disappearance, police said.
Madden will not face a hate crime charge because sexual orientation is not covered under Oklahoma law, prosecutors said.
Domer, who friends said was gay, was last seen Oct. 26 in a heavily gay Oklahoma City neighborhood, according to court papers. A witness said Domer had been talking to two men who matched the description of Madden and Qualls. Domer’s car was found the next day near Madden’s home.
